The group that joined that day took a photograph. I was wearing a white fur made cap like MGR. That photograph for years was preserved by Villiyanur Devaguru, an astrologer from Valluvar Kudi who used to practice astrology in a temple opposite to Villayanur bus stand.
Navalar Era.Nedumchezhian , Education Minister and General Secretary of DMK came to address a meeting in Anna Thidal [ Odiansalai Grounds] and was staying in Raj Niwas. M.O.H.Farook Maraicar was not only Chief Minister but the DMK unit here was by then upgraded as State Unit and he was State Convenor. Me and MOH Farook Maraicar were not in talking terms. Navalar started saying " What is it ? Being in one party you are not talking to each other " M.O.H.Farook Maraicar to escape that situation told " Anne I am going to Thidal to organize the meet . Then after few weeks one partymen of Nellithope V.Muthaiyan went to M.O.H.Farook Maraicar and told him ' You need not come to Nandhi's house nor he to your house .From Southern end of beach from Dupliex stature you come Northwards.. Nandhi from Gandhi statue will come Southwards " It was agreed by both. We met half way and extending my hand I told M.O.H.Farook Maraicar and said " Let us forget the past and be friends .... M.O.H.Farook Maraicar replied extending his hand and said " It is a gentleman's agreement. " From that till his death and even after death M.O.H.Farook Maraicar remains forever friend in my life.
I was made a Propaganda Secretary for 1974 Assembly polls. In the then CM's house now Ambedkar Mani Mandapam, a front room was given for my party activities. M.O.H.Iqbal Maraicar gave me a Java Motor cycle for travelling to in and nook corners of Pondicherry. I returned that Java back to M.O.H.Iqbal Maraicar once elections were over.
On the day when Thanthai Periyar died , then Home Minister S.Ramasamy, then PWD Minister D.Ramachandran and C.N.Parthasarathy etc were to leave to Chennai to defect to Anna DMK. They had booked rooms in Hotel Dasaprakash. Before leaving to Chennai S.Ramasamy called me and Suthukeni Su.Ma.Subburayan M.L.A to his then house in Beach Road and wanted me to again join Anna DMK. We both refused and in Subburayan's car we were sitting in front of M.O.H.Farook Maraicar's house hesitating to go in. Farook came from house and invited both inside his house. Then we told what SR and DR are planning to do. Chief Minister M.O.H.Farook Maraicar contacted Chief Minister Kalaignar and told about the coup attempt to topple the Pondy Ministry. Immediately in the rooms next to where DR and SR would be staying Kalaignar had placed the Special Branch CID's of Tamilnadu.
Kalaignar wanted us to come to Chennai immediately. Perumal Raja was with us. We both told Farook to tell Kalaignar that in next day noon we will come. Overnight Perumal Raja went and captured Congress M.L.A from Ousudu who agreed to cross over. Me and V.Muthaiyan in Jawa Motorbike went to Bahour pet to get Krishnasamy M.L.A of Congress. He was not in his house. He was admitted in Doctor Nallam's Clinic which was then in Chetty Street of Pondicherry. With 2 M.L.A's in our kitty to replace the 2 defecting Ministers, next day M.O.H.Farook Maraicar and myself went to Chennai and met DMK president Dr.Kalaignar M.Karunanithi.
Kalaignar advised M.O.H.Farook Maraicar to resign as Chief Minister because only 2 more months term is there, Anyhow you will be caretaker Chief Minister. People will think bad of us if we encourage defection. Heeding to his advice M.O.H.Farook Maraicar resigned as Chief Minister and was Caretaker Chief Minister. Because Krishnasamy M.L.A of Bahour personally was ready to join DMK on my request, we gave him ticket for 1974 assembly polls in Bahour but he lost. Not only he except 2 all lost. But with 2 M.L.A's we toppled the 21 day Anna DMK Ministry ofS.Ramasamy
